LP Urges Reservation of 2027 Presidential and Abia Governor Tickets for Obi and Otti

In anticipation of the 2027 general elections, the Labour Party (LP) has proposed setting aside the presidential ticket for former Anambra State Governor Peter Obi.

Additionally, the party advocates reserving the gubernatorial ticket for Abia State Governor Alex Otti, citing his exceptional performance in office. This decision was reached during the party's National Convention convened in Nnewi, Anambra State.

According to a statement released after the convention, LP emphasized Peter Gregory Obi's exemplary track record before, during, and after the 2023 general elections, endorsing him as the sole candidate for the 2027 presidential ticket.

Furthermore, the convention affirmed its confidence in Governor Alex Otti's ongoing development efforts in Abia State and proposed reserving the party's 2027 governorship ticket for him.

In the 2023 general elections, Obi contested as the LP presidential candidate, securing 6,101,533 votes. Despite finishing second to Bola Tinubu, who emerged as the winner, LP acknowledges Obi's significant electoral performance.

The communique, signed by LP's re-elected National Chairman, Comrade Julius Abure, and National Secretary, Umar Faruk Ibrahim, underscores the party's decision to reserve the presidential and gubernatorial tickets for Obi and Otti, respectively, in the upcoming elections.

LP also urged President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to take immediate action to stabilize the economy and foster growth, assuring its members of a promising future nationwide.
