Bandit Raid in Katsina: 13 Abducted, Millions in Property Stolen

In a recent incident in Katsina State, thirteen individuals, including twelve married women and one man, were reportedly abducted in an attack by bandits at Kurechin Giye village of Makera Ward in Dutsinma Local Government Area. Alongside the abductions, the assailants looted properties valued at millions of naira from the residents.

According to an anonymous resident who spoke to Channels Television, the bandits, armed with sophisticated weapons, stormed the village late Monday, initiating a prolonged attack. Despite the severity of the situation, there was no immediate security intervention or reinforcement during the hours-long assault.

During the raid, the attackers were described as consuming hot millet drink, typically served to break the fast, before targeting women and children and absconding with valuables worth millions of naira. While government officials and security authorities in the state have yet to provide official statements regarding the incident, the community remains shaken by the brazen assault and the subsequent loss of lives and property.
