Gov. Eno reiterated Support for Tinubu's Government, Welcomes Decampees to PDP

Governor Umo Eno of Akwa Ibom State has reiterated his commitment to collaborating with the federal government led by President Tinubu, regardless of party affiliations. This partnership aims to secure optimal support from the Federal Government for the state's development initiatives.

During an event at the Ibom Hall Grounds in Uyo, Governor Eno welcomed thirty-seven thousand, eight hundred and seventy-four individuals who defected from other political parties to the People's Democratic Party (PDP). Emphasizing the importance of peace for progress, he urged the new party members to refrain from disrespectful behavior towards leaders, particularly at the federal level, and instead work together for the common good.

Addressing the decampees, Governor Eno stressed that while he is a member of the PDP, his party upholds principles of respect and cooperation with leadership at all levels, including the presidency. He urged the returnees to embrace this approach and refrain from attacking leaders, including President Tinubu, emphasizing that constructive engagement yields better outcomes.

Expressing gratitude for the efforts of the decampees during past campaigns and elections, Governor Eno highlighted the importance of collaboration with the central government to deliver development to Akwa Ibom State. He emphasized the need for respect, decency, and loyalty in political discourse, underscoring that constructive engagement facilitates the fulfillment of promises made by leaders.

Governor Eno urged the leadership of the PDP to welcome the returnees with love, while also advising the decampees to show respect for the party's leadership at all levels. The state chairman of the PDP, Aniekan Akpan, facilitated the presentation of the decampees to Governor Eno, securing their commitment to support the state government's agenda for success.

Former chieftains of other political parties who spoke at the event, including Enyong-Ekere, Emmanuel Ukoette, Henry Offiong, Ime Eshiet, Ubong Victor Edem, and former commissioner Samuel Efanga, cited Governor Eno's focus on development, inclusive leadership style, and ambitious programs as reasons for their return to the PDP.
