The Rivers State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has intensified its demand for the resumption of impeachment proceedings against Governor Siminalayi Fubara, emphasizing its stance during a recent press conference held in Port Harcourt. Tony Okocha, the party's caretaker Chairman, reiterated the party's unwavering position, stating that it will not tolerate any disrespect towards President Bola Tinubu from the governor.
Okocha, in his address to the press, condemned what he perceived as insults directed at President Tinubu by Governor Fubara, emphasizing the need for decisive action by the state's House of Assembly. He warned that failure to restart the impeachment process would result in disciplinary measures being taken against assembly members who neglect their duty to uphold the party's principles.
"It would be foolish for us to idly stand by while someone, far inferior to Mr. President, dares to insult him openly," Okocha asserted. "Furthermore, it is unacceptable for the governor to promote impunity and intimidation against members of our party without consequence."
Okocha emphasized the party's responsibility as representatives of President Tinubu, asserting their commitment to defending his honor and the integrity of the party. "To that end, in consultation with our party, we are instructing APC members within the Assembly to initiate impeachment proceedings against Governor Sim Fubara immediately," Okocha declared. "Should they fail to act accordingly, we will not hesitate to enforce party discipline and take decisive action as stipulated by our constitution."
