Honouring Fallen Soldiers and Ensuring Justice in Nigeria

General Christopher Musa, the Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), has declared that the sacrifice of 17 military personnel who lost their lives in the Okuama community of Delta State will not be forgotten. He made this solemn vow during their burial at the Military Cemetery in Abuja, reassuring the grieving families that justice would be served.

The military personnel tragically lost their lives while responding to a distress call amid a communal crisis between the Okuama and Okoloba communities in Delta State. General Musa, in his address at the burial ceremony, expressed profound gratitude to the fallen heroes for their unwavering commitment to duty and their courageous service to the nation.

"We will honor your memory by continuing to fight those who seek to undermine our peace and security," General Musa affirmed. He emphasized that their sacrifice will not be in vain, urging the nation to unite in support of the Armed Forces and work towards a Nigeria free from violence and insecurity.

Amidst the grief and loss, General Musa delivered a stern message to the perpetrators of the heinous act, pledging that the military will relentlessly pursue them and ensure they face justice. He condemned their attempts to sow division and assured them that peace and security will be restored across the nation.

President Bola Tinubu, present at the burial, posthumously honoured the fallen soldiers with national awards and announced scholarships and housing support for their families. The ceremony was attended by other high-ranking military officials, governors, lawmakers, and dignitaries, underscoring the nation's solidarity in honouring its fallen heroes.
